Facilities

The physical infrastructure of the campus is based on a co-location model, whereby the University and the Illawarra Institute of Technology have separate buildings for academic activities, but where all the other buildings and facilities are operated on a shared basis.

Facilities Available

Facilities available to Shoalhaven campus students and staff include:

  • Library - in addition to the print and electronic resource available in the library, computers are available for library research. Photocopying facilities are also available.
  • Computer laboratories - there are computers available for student use in both the Ray Cleary Building and the Library.

After hours access

An After hours access centre is available to students who wish to use the University computers or simply find a quiet place to study. Click here for further information.

Campus Services Building

  • Canteen/bookshop - takeaway food, drinks, coffee, tea, stationary and textbooks can be purchased from the canteen. EFTPOS facilities are also available.
  • Recreational facilities are also available here such as a TV, a pool table. Enjoy the picturesque views of the Budawang Mountains while you eat, relax or study.

Services Available

  • A regular bus service provided by private bus companies is also available to the campus from the Nowra/Bomaderry railway station and surrounding districts. To view the timetable, click here.
  • Ample free parking is available.
  • Childcare can be arranged through the nearby childcare centre.

Support Facilities

Information Technology Support - All UOW IT related questions can be directed to the Information Technology Services Officer located in Office UG09 in the Ray Clearly Building.

Audio-visual support - this includes video-conferencing, video players and monitors and overhead projectors. The Audio Visual Officer is located in Office UG06 in the Ray Cleary Building.

Counselling Services - a qualified counsellor visits the Shoalhaven Campus. The counsellor is available for student consultations regarding appeals, special consideration, personal and other problems. Phone 4221 3445 for appointments.

Learning Development - learning assistance is available for students in various areas relevant to degree studies. Workshops include:

  • Time Management
  • Reading and Note Making
  • Essay Writing
  • Structuring Arguments and Critical Thinking
  • Exam Preparation and Techniques

University Careers Service - the University Careers Service offers advice and guidance to students regarding their future employment options and study strategies.
